ABOUT THE PRODUCT
While DROPS inspections remain a core capability, the Tools Aloft module addresses an equally critical safety risk - managing tools taken to height and preventing dropped-object incidents.
Historically, crews relied on a paper-based sign in/sign out process with no live information. Supervisors manually checked returns but the approach lacked consistency, traceability and reliability. Missing tools could be left at height without awareness by the supervisor and create high-risk to personnel working below their operation.
The Tools-Aloft feature replaces this with a fully digital, auditable workflow that closes the gap. It provides real-time visibility, robust accountability with live emails alerts to ensure no tools or equipment are left at height and with a significant streamlined user experience.
Already deployed across 3 continents globally, Tools-Aloft is strengthening work-at-height safety and transforming previously manual processes into a modern, digital standard.
INDUSTRY CHALLENGE
Work-at-height tasks rely heavily on crews taking handheld tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and specialist equipment aloft. Paper-based sign-in/out systems create several operational risks:
- No real traceability across shifts
- Limited visibility of tool condition before use
- No photo evidence for damaged or missing items
- Manual, time-consuming supervisor checks
- No digital record for audits or investigations
HOW WE FIXED IT
Digital Sign In/Sign Out
Users search for the tool ID on the tablet and check in/out the equipment before taking it. The workflow prompts them to record its condition:
- Damaged: Upload a photo for evidence
- Missing: Flag it to the department lead
- All Good: Record and proceed
Supervisor Oversight
Supervisors alerted via email for tools left at height.
Automatic PDF Report
For the tools checked out, a PDF summary is generated that includes the details of the person using the equipment, the time and date of in/out, condition notes and photos of damage.
